SILENCE - IS SUCH A NOISY THING . . .

Silence - is such a noisy thing . . .

Silence - please shh your lips - you are making such a din
Don’t you know your silence - is drowning out everything

With you in my ear I cannot hear the beautiful birds sing
Silence - you even blocked out the noisy harrowing wind

Silence - with you I cannot hear the warnings that I need
Alarms and sirens for me are just not there so I can heed

Dogs barking - all joyful children - all laughing in the park
Passing teenagers - no conversations of theirs to - remark

Cars pass me silently the drivers wondering - why I stand
Waiting and waiting forever in the middle of no-man’s land

Wishing silence then would give me just one - little break
So I feel safe then across the road - with steps I then take

The man outside the local shops - is talking into his phone
A pleasure for me that is something - I have never - known

Silence - for others a blessing but for me nothing but a sin
What is silence to me - when silence shuts out - everything

Silence - is such a noisy thing . . .

Indiana Shaw . . . -_-
